Abstract:
A receiver apparatus in a communication system where one frame of information
bits is divided into a plurality of blocks, the information bits of each block
are turbo-coded for transmission, and a received signal is used to decode the
coded information bits.The receiver apparatus includes only decoders the number
of which is not less than the number of the blocks per frame. Each decoder decodes
the coded information bits as likelihood-expressed in a predetermined block.
When the condition of stoppage of the decoding process is met, each decoder executes
a decoding process of another block of coded information bits as not decoded yet.
If the condition of stoppage of the decoding process is met for all of the blocks
before the number of repetitions of the decoding process exceeding a predetermined
maximum number of repetitions, then the decoding results of the blocks are combined
in series and then subjected to an error detection process. If no errors are present,
then the decoding results are outputted.
