Abstract:
The processing capabilities of decoders can be exerted in the most effective
manner possible. A desired error rate can be achieved even in decoders having
lower processing capabilities. The increment of power consumption and cost
can be suppressed. When having stored one frame of data symbols, a data symbol
storing part (104) outputs the data symbols of each code block to an iterative
decoding part (107). A control symbol decoding part (105) notifies a maximum
number-of-iterations deciding part (106) of information that relates to a number
of one frame of code blocks and the sizes of the code blocks. The maximum number-of-iterations
deciding part (106) decides, based on a permissible time, which can be assigned
to the iterative decoding of one frame, the number of one frame of code blocks and
the sizes of the code blocks, the maximum number of iterations of each code block.
An iterative decoding part (107) performs an iterative decoding of each code
block with the maximum number of iterations being an upper limit.
