Abstract:
The present invention relates to a receiver, a receiving method, and a program configured to suppress power consumption with bad reception of signal. When bad reception of signal is caused during television program watching and a receiver (1) cannot output images and sound of the program correctly, power supply to circuits of a video decoder and an audio decoder that are reproducing the program is stopped. In addition, if images and sound of the program cannot be correctly output, related information, moving images, still images, and music data of the program, such as MBL data stored in a memory in advance, are reproduced and output instead of the images and sound of the program. The present invention is applicable to a device receiving and reproducing contents transmitted by radio waves.
