Abstract:
A receiver performs decoding according to the logarithm likelihood ratio determined from the received signal in a communication system using a multilevel modulation method. For example, the receiver comprises near modulation point extracting sections (11-1 to 11-N) for extracting N modulation points (N< the number of levels) near the reception point and common and inverted bit likelihood calculating sections (12-1 to 12-N) and logarithm likelihood ratio calculating sections (13-1 to 13-M) for extracting modulation points corresponding to the respective bit sequences acquired by inverting the bits of code word bit sequences one bit by one bit for each near modulation points and calculating the logarithm likelihood ratio of each bit according to the distance between the reception point and the extracted modulation point.
