Abstract:

A configuration is realized with which it is possible to determine, using a service category identifier recorded in an SLT that can be received in advance, a playback application to be utilized in a reception apparatus. The service category identifier, which enables identification of an application to be utilized for a provided service, such as a program provided by a transmission apparatus, is transmitted to the reception apparatus. At the time of a service transition, if the utilized applications for services before and after the transition are identical, a process is performed to continue using the application being utilized before the service transition. The service category identifier is an identifier which enables identification of whether a residential playback application or a broadcast playback application is to be used as a playback application to be utilized to play back the service.
