Abstract:

The present invention relates to a reception device, reception method, transmission device, and transmission method that make it possible to appropriately maintain a table in which control information for an application program that is executed in conjunction with AV content is stored. A trigger information extraction unit acquires trigger information for identifying control information for controlling operation of a program that is executed in conjunction with AV content. A TPT/AMT analysis unit acquires a table in which the control information identified by the trigger information is stored, acquiring said table in accordance with version information that is included in the trigger information and that indicates the version of the table. A control unit controls operation of an application program in accordance with the control information that is stored in the table identified by the trigger information. The present invention can be applied, for example, to a television receiver that receives a digital television broadcast signal.
