Abstract:
Provided is a reciprocating device having a case, a reciprocating member reciprocating with respect to the case, and a drive mechanism for locking the reciprocating member. The drive mechanism has: a drive unit that has a drive unit main body and a drive shaft; a gear unit that rotates by rotation of the drive shaft, with a direction substantially perpendicular to the drive shaft as a rotating shaft; an arm unit that rotates by rotation of the gear unit; and a lock unit that has a conversion mechanism for converting rotation of the arm unit to a linear motion and an engaging portion that comes into engagement with the reciprocating member. The reciprocating member and the drive unit are housed in the case in such a manner that the respective axes thereof are substantially parallel to each other. The arm unit has a rotating shaft in which a plane including the rotation direction of the arm unit is substantially parallel to a plane including the axial direction of the drive unit and the axial direction of the reciprocating member. The reciprocating device can be housed in a housing space narrow in a width direction.
