RECONFIGURABLE WAVEGUIDE MIXING SLOT ANTENNA BASED ON S-PIN DIODE

A reconfigurable waveguide mixing slot antenna based on S-PIN diode. Each of wide walls or narrow walls of the main rectangle waveguide of the antenna has 8-32 slots (1) by cutting, and an S-PIN diode is set on each slot (1). When the antenna is working, three walls of the waveguide do not generate radiation, the S-PIN diodes on which are forward biased. A thin layer similar to metal is formatted, and all slots (1) on the three walls of the waveguide are closed. Radiation of the antenna is generated by the slot array on the other wall of the waveguide, and therefore stronger radiation can be generated on a needed direction. An omnidirectional scanning can be achieved by controlling the forward bias voltage of S-PIN diodes. An omnidirectional radiation can be achieved by removing all of the forward bias voltage of S-PIN diodes. Furthermore, the directional pattern of the antenna is reconfigurable and the working mode can be switched among omnidirectional radiation, directional radiation and omnidirectional scanning freely.
