Abstract:
An objective of the present invention is to allow effective acquisition of video data which may be useful in verifying an accident or incident in which the host vehicle is not involved. Provided is a recording device for a vehicle comprising: a video data acquisition part (132) for acquiring video data from an imaging part which captures images of the periphery of a vehicle; a recording control part (131) for causing a storage part for recording the video data to record image capture position information and image capture timestamp information in association with the video data; and an event information acquisition part (133) for acquiring, from an external information source, event information about an event to be recorded, said event information including at least information relating to the location where the event occurs and the time when the event occurs. The recording control part (131) refers to the event information acquired by the event information acquisition part (133), and if video data captured at a location within a prescribed range from the location where the event occurs is present at a time included within a prescribed time range before and after the time when the event occurs, the recording control part (131) records the video data as event record data.
