Abstract:
Provided is a recording device wherein identification information is set for each portable recording medium such as an optical disk, and is associated with a title list a timer-recording list, so that a recording medium corresponding to data to be selected from the title list or the timer-recording list can be recognized. The recording device for recording program data representing a content of a broadcast program to be timer recorded, in a removably attached recording medium, is provided with a storage unit comprising a plurality of storage areas capable of storing program data. In the recording device, medium information unique to one optical disk is associated with one storage area among the plurality of storage areas, and stored. Then, identification information for identifying an optical disk associated with the storage area, such as color, image, or the like, is set.
