A recording medium destruction device capable of performing destruction of even a recording medium that is small such as an IC mounted on a substrate and whose installation position is irregular. A recoding medium destruction device (1) is composed of an apparatus placement section (2), a destruction section (3), and a lifting device (5). The destruction section (3) is constructed by arranging a large number of needle members (10) in columns and rows and is partitioned into six sections. To destroy an IC etc. mounted on a substrate (25) by using the recording medium destruction device (1), an IC (recording medium)(26) to be destroyed is placed on the apparatus placement section (2) together with the substrate (25), and the destruction section (3) is lowered to form a large number of through-holes in the substrate (25).
