The purpose of the present invention is to provide a rectangular secondary battery module that, by means of a simple structure, can suppress plate deformation in a wound electrode group. This rectangular secondary battery module (100) comprises a plurality of rectangular secondary batteries (1) configured such that a flat wound electrode group (3), in which electrode plates (32, 34) are wound around an axial core (80), is housed in a battery container (2). The wound electrode group (3) has a cross-sectional shape that is perpendicular to the winding axis direction (X direction) and the flat thickness direction (Z direction) of the wound electrode group (3), moves from the end sections (3b, 3b) in the height direction (Y direction) to the central section in the height direction (3a), becomes gradually thicker in a flat thickness direction and has as the thickest section thereof the thickness of the central section in the height direction (3a). The plurality of rectangular secondary batteries (1) is disposed so as to face each other with spacers (90) interposed between facing wall sections (PW) of neighboring battery containers (2) and the spacers (90) are configured such that they are disposed opposite the central section in the height direction (3a) of the wound electrode group (3), with the facing wall sections (PW) of the battery containers (2) between.
