Abstract:
According to the present invention, a redox flow battery comprises at least one cell that has a first chamber and a second chamber that are separated by a diaphragm, a first electrolyte circulation device that circulates a first electrolyte through the first chamber, and a second electrolyte circulation device that circulates a second electrolyte through the second chamber, at least one of the first electrolyte circulation device and the second electrolyte circulation device comprising a raised electrolyte tank that is provided at a higher position than the cell, an electrolyte circulation channel that allows the first chamber or the second chamber to communicate with the raised electrolyte tank, and an electrolyte outflow channel that allows the first electrolyte or the second electrolyte that has flowed into the first chamber or the second chamber from the raised electrolyte tank to flow out of the first chamber or the second chamber, the head difference between the cell and the level of the first electrolyte or the second electrolyte in the raised electrolyte tank allowing the first electrolyte or the second electrolyte to flow from the raised electrolyte tank into the first chamber or the second chamber through the electrolyte circulation channel.
