Title:
REDUCING PLASTIC BOTTLE DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1999/002320
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This invention relates to an electric device comprising a metallic hollow cylinder 10 cm in diameter and 10 cm in height, a double resistance that is rotating in the cylinder, a thermostat that controls the temperature, a thermostat tube, which joins the resistance with the thermostat, a switch, an indicating lamp, an external cylindrical cover around the cylinder as well as a metallic body in which all the above parts are adapted. The cylinder is heated by supplying electric power to the resistance and when the temperature reaches 60° to 70 °C, the thermostat breaks the power supply, so when the lower part of the plastic bottle is put into the warm cylinder and been pushed downwards manually, in 3 seconds it is melted and reduced, therefore the bottles do not occupy much space in the refuse places and they are easily stored and collected for recycling purposes.

Description:
REDUCING PLASTIC BOTTIE DEVICE The present invention relates to an electric device that reduces the empty plastic bottles. as those commonly used for water, refreshing drinks, wine, oil etc.. and comprises a metallic base, a hollow metallic cylinder 10 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter that is adapted in the metallic base, a double resistance, which is rotating in the cylinder, a thermostat, a tube of the thermostat, a switch, a lamp indicating the device's function and an external metallic cover placed around the cylinder.

The purpose of the device is to reduce the size of plastic bottles in order that they do not occupy much space in places of refuse and that they are easily stored and collected for recycling reasons. The use of this device can be domestic, industrial or commercial, for restaurants, bars, hotels etc., where a large volume of plastic bottles is accumulated.

Similar devices have formed national patent applications, such as FR-A-2 673 390 of SALOMON, FR-A-2 694 722 of GROS and FR-A-2 693 144 GROS These devices are closed compacting devices, in which the whole bottle is inserted and much more complicated, since the use of pistons and other mechanical forces is necessary to achieve results.

Advantages of the invention: a) results are achieved by open device, b) small size, c) simple, user-friendly function, d) double resistance ensures quick and effective heating of the plastic bottle, e) results are achieved without the use of any mechanical force of compacting or pressing the bottle.

The description of the drawings hereafter refers to the construction of the device.

In the drawings: FIG 1 shows a perspective internal view of the device without the external cover FIG 2 shows a perspective internal view of the device with the external cover The electric device for reducing plastic bottles consists of a hollow cylinder 1 10 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter, inside which a double resistance 2 is rotating.

The resistance is joined with a thermostat 3 through a thermostat tube 4. All those

parts are adapted in a metallic body 7, consisted of a round base, in which the cylinder 1 containing the resistance 2 is placed. On the edge of this base a thermostat 3 is embodied, with its tube 4 that is joined with the double resistance 2 and on top of the edge the indicating lamp 5 and the switch 6 are placed. Around the cylinder and on top of the base there is a cylindrical metallic cover 8 for protecting the user from the heat of the cylinder By switching on the device and providing electricity to the double resistance 2 that is found in the cylinder 1, the latter is heated and when it reaches around 60°- 70° C, the thermostat 3 cuts off the power supply circuit and simultaneously the indicating lamp 5 is switched off, signing that the device is ready to accept the plastic bottle.

Therefore by placing the lower part of the plastic bottle into the warm cylinder and by pushing it down manually, in 3 seconds it is heated, melted and finally reduced to a size of 6-7 cm in height.
