In a reel holding device (21) for a tape feeder (11), two reel support plates (24) are supported in a swingable manner along the inner surface of a side plate (23a) of a reel accommodating case (23) via plate support shafts (26), and at two places in the side plate (23a). Each of the reel support plates (24) has, provided thereto, a reel support shaft (28) which supports a reel (22) in a rotatable and detachable manner. Central holes (29) in the reels (22) are detachably fitted to the reel support shafts (28). The reel support plates (24) are respectively capable of swinging between a reel set position in which the reels (22) are accommodated inside the reel accommodating case (23), and a reel attachment/detachment position in which the reels (22) are attached and detached. Furthermore, in the reel attachment/detachment position, a portion of each of the reel support plates (24) and a portion of each of the reels (22) are maintained in a state of overlapping the side plate (23a) of the reel accommodating case (23). These overlapping sections become introduction guides, and smooth swing operation of the reel support plates (24) from the reel attachment/detachment position to the reel set position is achieved.
