Abstract:
A method for machining reflecting mirrors, which comprise a light-transmitting medium that transmits light and a coated surface that is provided on the light-transmitting medium and reflects light, is characterized in that cutting of the light-transmitting medium is performed by a water jet cutter through a protective member on the coated surface side of the coated surface. The reflecting mirror of the present invention, which comprises a light-transmitting medium that transmits light and a coated surface that is provided on the light-transmitting medium and reflects light, is characterized, when the surface on the side opposite from the coated surface is the surface of the light-transmitting medium, in: having a cut surface other than the coated surface and said opposite surface; the surface roughness of the cut surface being rougher than said opposite surface; and the cut surface being cut using a water jet cutter through a protective member on the coated surface side of the coated surface.
