Abstract:
In order to further improve the corrosion resistance and thermal shock resistance of a magnesia refractory for casting, the present invention provides a refractory for casting containing 40% by mass to 85% by mass of MgO and 10% by mass to 50% by mass of Al4O4C in the state thereof after heat treatment in a non-oxidative atmosphere at 500°C, wherein the coefficient of thermal expansion thereof at 1000°C is 0.9% or less, and the difference between the average coefficient of thermal expansion thereof from 1100°C to 1500°C and the average coefficient of thermal expansion thereof from room temperature to 1100°C is 6×10-6/°C or less.
