Abstract:
In the continuous casting operation using a steel species that is likely to undergo a nozzle clogging phenomenon such as an aluminum killed steel, the adhesion of an Al2O3 inclusion onto the inside of a nozzle to be used or the clogging of a nozzle to be used with an Al2O3 inclusion can be prevented. For this purpose, a refractory (10) is placed on a part or the whole of a molten-steel-contacting surface of a continuous casting nozzle, wherein the refractory (10) contains 0.5 mass% or more of a CaO component, any one or both of B2O3 and R2O (wherein R represents any one of Na, K and Li) in the total amount of 0.5 mass% or more, 50 mass% or more of Al2O3, and 8.0 to 34.5 mass% inclusive of free carbon, wherein the total amount of CaO, B2O3 and R2O is 1.0 to 15.0 mass% inclusive, and the CaO/(B2O3+R2O) ratio is 0.1 to 3.0 inclusive by mass.
