Abstract:
Cooling device, comprising a compressor (16), condenser (15), cooling element (14) and two fan devices (17, 18) disposed in a housing (1). The housing consists of two identical halves (2, 3), one of which (3) encloses the compressor, condenser and a fan device, while the other half (2) encloses a cooling element and the other fan device. The condenser and the cooling elements as well as the fan devices are identical.

Claims
1. Cooling device for cold compartments, cool chambers and the like, comprising a cabinetlike housing which is intended to be placed in an opening in a wall of the compartment or chamber and which comprises a compressor, a condenser, a conden¬ ser fan, a cooling element and a cooling element fan, the housing having an intake opening and an exhaust opening for each fan, characterized in that the housing (1) has the shape of a parallelepiped and is divided into two parts (2,3) of the same shape, each part having an inlet and an outlet opening (7,8) for surrounding air, that the condenser (15) and the cooling element (14) and the condenser fan (18) and the cooling element fan (17), respectively, have the same location in their respective part and that the compressor (16) is located in its part in a space (12) which has its counterpart in the other part.
2. Cooling device according to claim 1, characterized in that the housing (1) is divided into two identical parts (2,3) having said openings (7,8) disposed in walls (6) which are parallel to the dividing line (9) of the housing.
3. Cooling device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the condenser (15) and the cooling element (14) and the condenser fan (17) and the cooling element fan (17) are identical.

Cooling device according to one of claims 13, characterized in that the space (12) for the compressor in one part of the housing (3) and the corresponding space (12) in the other part (2) have attachment planes (10,13) for the compressor, which planes are perpendicular to each other in order to make horizontal or vertical installation of the device possible.
5. Cooling device according to one of claims 24, characterized in that the housing (1) has opposing parallel and even outer side walls (5) perpendicularly to the walls (6) provided with said openings (7,8), and that fastening frames (9) surround the housing, which frames are displaceable for adaption to the thickness of the wall around the opening and which may be screwed into the even side walls of the hous¬ ing and into the wall around the opening.
Description:
REFRIGERATING DEVICE

The present invention relates to a cooling device for cooling enclosed spaces, comprising a cabinet-like housing which is intended to be placed in an opening in a wall of the cooling chamber and which comprises a compressor, a condenser, a con¬ denser fan, a cooling element and a cooling element fan, the housing having an intake opening and an exhaust opening for each fan.

Cooling devices of this kind are used for example to lower the temperature in rooms containing sensitive heat-generating equipment, e.g. electrical equipment such as computers, computerized switch-boards and the like. Such a cooling device is shown and described in SE-A-7614609-1. The device is characterized in that its cabinet¬ like housing consists of a main part enclosing the compressor and the condenser with its cooling fan, while the cooling element and its fan are suspended on the outside of a housing wall of the main part and are covered by a cap which forms an enc of the housing and the volume of which constitutes about 25% of the total volume of the cabinet-like housing. Thus, the device has a warm and a cold part totally separated from each other. Generally, in hitherto known devices of the kind in question, the cold and warm parts are constituted by individually made components for each part without any uniformity between the parts, which means expensive manufacture and requires stocks of many different components.

The object of the present invention is to achieve a cooling device of the type mentioned by way of introduction, which may be manufactured at lower cost and which requires stocks of fewer components than hitherto known devices.

This is achieved according to the invention by virtue of the fact that the housing has the shape of a parallelepiped and is divided into two parts of the same shape, each part having an inlet and an outlet opening for surrounding air, that the condenser and the cooling element and the condenser fan and the cooling element fan, respectively,

have the same location in their respective parts and that the compressor is located in one part of a space which has its equivalent in the other part.

Such a cooling device will be considerably cheaper to manufacture and stock than known devices. The same pressing, punching and cutting tools may be used for the casing of the two parts of the housing. By placing the condenser and the cooling elements at the same place in the respective housing part and arranging the space for the compressor in both parts, there need be no distinction in component manufacture and stock-keeping.

In a further development of the cooling device according to the invention the hous¬ ing is divided into two identical parts, i.e. also having the intake and exhaust open¬ ings placed at exactly the same place in the parts. Furthermore, the condenser and the cooling element and the condenser fan and the cooling element fan, respectively, are identical. This means that the production may be concentrated on manufacturing "half a cooling device and there need be no difference between condenser and cooling elements and their respective fans, which considerably facilitates service and repair.

The invention will be described in more detail below with reference to the accom¬ panying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the cooling device according to the invention, Fig. 2 is a side view of the device in Fig. 1 and Fig. 3 is a schematical longitudinal section through the device in Fig. 1.

The cooling device according to the invention comprises a housing, generally desig¬ nated 1, which consists of two identical parts 2 and 3, each comprising a frame or chassis part 4 (not shown), a chassis cover 5 and an end cover 6. The latter parts have air intake and exhaust openings 7 and 8, respectively, which in the embodiment shown are covered by gratings. The openings 7 and 8 are identical as to shape and location on the respective end cover 6. The outsides of the chassis covers 5 are

completely even and are surrounded by a pair of fastening frames 9 which may be displaced along the cover in order to be adapted to the thickness of the wall (not shown), into the opening of which the cooling device is to be fixed, before the frames are screwed onto the covers 5 or the surrounding wall, respectively.

Each housing part 2, 3 is sealed along the dividing line "a" by means of partition walls, so that two separate spaces are formed, each space being divided into two parts 11, 12 by means of further partition walls 13, as schematically illustrated in Fig. 3. In the Figure the device is intended for vertical mounting, the rooms 11, 12 thereby forming lower and upper parts in which two identical units 14 and 15, respectively, are mounted, one, 14, serving as cooling element, while the other, 15, serves as condenser in the embodiment shown in Fig. 3. Consequently the com¬ pressor 16 of the device is mounted in the space 12 above the condenser 15. In the upper part of the respective lower space 11 a fan device 17 and 18, respectively, is suspended directly opposite an opening 19 in the respective partition wall 13. The fan 18 above the condenser 15 sucks in air through the lower opening 7. The air flows past the condenser 15 and the compressor 16 and is blown out through the upper opening 8. Thus, this part 3 of the cooling device is the warm part, which in the assembled state is placed outside the room to be cooled. Air flows through the cold part 2 in the opposite direction, i.e. the fan 17 sucks in air through the upper opening 8. The air passes the cooling element 14 where it is cooled, and is then blown out into the room which is to be cooled through the lower opening 7. For example by reversing the direction of rotation of the fan 18 the same direction of rotation is obtained in the warm and cold parts of the device.

In the example shown the cooling device is mounted vertically, a collecting vessel 20, 21 for condensed liquid being placed on the short side below the condenser 15 and the cooling element 14. However, the device may also be mounted horizontally where this is desirable. In this case the compressor 16 is mounted on supporting elements (transversely to the plane shown), as indicated by dashed lines. The

condenser 15 and the cooling element 14 are dimensioned so that a space is formed between the respective side walls and adjacent parts of the housing, such that the collecting vessels 20, 21 may be placed in said space when the cooling device is mounted horizontally, as indicated with dashed lines in Fig. 3.

In Fig. 1, the numerals 30, 31 indicate identical electrical control panels and control electronics in the two parts 2, 3 of the housing.

The walls 10 are provided with openings for the cooling medium wires required between the components and couplings with extensions (not shown) are provided which makes it possible to arrange the device in a so-called split version, i.e. having the parts 2 and 3 separated.
