Description:
REFRIGERATOR DOOR-HANDLE The present invention is related to the refrigerator door handles and particularly to those designed for plastic doors, which are fixed on the holders and guide plates that are placed on both sides of the door exterior plastic material before filling with polyurethane., The conventional door handles made of metal or plastics are attached on the reinforcing pieces fastened on the inner side of the door, in such a manner that they remain in the polyurethane, by means of bolts and similar material. The door handles are fastened on the door by means of catches and recesses formed on the said pieces and rigidity is provided by the polyurethane. In the domestic type refrigerators the door handles are flush-mounted in contact with the polyurethane and when a problem arises with regard to the door handle, the door is required to be replaced entirely as the handle cannot be removed from the door. This process is time consuming and costly. Furthermore, since the door handle is integrated with the door, there are certain restrictions during the industrial design stage.

The object of the present invention is to provide an easy mounting/dismounting process for the door handle which is seated onto a guide plate on the door, independently from the door by means of a screw holding the door handle on its side.

The door handle and guide plate realised in order to attain the object of the present invention are illustrated in the drawings, wherein: Figure 1-is the overall view of the inner reinforcing piece of the door handle, Figure 2, is the overall view of the outer reinforcing piece of the door handle, Figure 3, is the view showing the door handle connecting part

Figure 4, is the view of the door handle connecting part as mounted on the door handle outer reinforcing piece, Figure 5, is the view showing the door handle as mounted on the door handle outer reinforcing piece, Figure 6, is the side view of the door handle.

Figure 7, is the bottom of the door handle, Figure 8, is the view of the door handle as mounted on the door handle inner and outer reinforcing pieces.

The components shown in the drawings have been numerated as follows: 1. Door handle 2. Door handle outer reinforcing piece 3. Door handle inner reinforcing piece 4. Door handle connecting part 5. Guide plate 6. Wing 7. Groove 8. Centering pins 9. Screw holes on the door handle inner reinforcing piece 10. Centering pin recess 11. Channel 12. Hole 13. Door handle pin 14. Screw holes on the door handle outer reinforcing piece 15. Door handle screw hole The door handle assembly consists of three major components; namely the door handle inner reinforcing piece (3) placed inside the door, the door handle outer reinforcing piece (2) placed between the door and the door handle (1), also

including the door handle adapter (4), which ensures the fitting of the door handle (1) on the door; and the door handle (1).

The door handle inner reinforcing piece (3) is a rectangular plastic plate with rounded edges. The said reinforcing piece is provided with screw holes (9) at suitable points in order to allow the door handle inner reinforcing piece (3) to be mounted on the door. Gaps of various shapes and numbers are left inside the door handle inner reinforcing piece (3) for a better setting of the polyurethane.

Furthermore, centering pins (8) on the surface have been formed on the door handle outer reinforcing piece (2) for its easy mounting on the door handle inner reinforcing piece (3). (Fig. l). The door handle outer reinforcing piece (2) situated between the door handle inner reinforcing piece (3) and door handle (1) consists of a guide plate (5) and a door handle connecting part (4) manufactured independently from the said single piece, which shall serve as the locking part.

The door handle outer reinforcing piece (2) is a triangular plate with rounded edges, wherein all angles of the triangle are acute. The guide (5) which is formed as one-piece with the door handle outer reinforcing piece (2), so that the wing (6) on the door handle (1) can be inserted in it with both sides bent inwards and with a gap in the middle; extends from the base to the vertex of the triangle. Besides there is a hollow rectangular groove (7) with a width and length suitable to the end of the door handle adapter (4), at the vertex point, just below the screw hole (14). The door handle outer reinforcing piece (2) is provided with screw holes (14), to meet the door handle inner reinforcing piece (3). Furthermore there are two centering pin recesses (10) placed in conformity with the centering pins (8) on the door handle reinforcing piece (3), (Fig. 2).

The door handle connecting part (4) is formed of a monobloc cylinder with a hole (12) at the center, around which channels (11) with pre-determined depths have been formed at right angles, the cylinder being placed on a platform that consists of a two-stepped cascade with different heights (Fig. 3). The section below the part that forms the base of the cylinder is slightly longer than the latter, in the door

handle connecting part (4). This longer part is inserted into the rectangular groove (7) that has a suitable width and length for receiving the longer end of the door handle connecting part (4), which is on the top of the outer reinforcing piece (2), just below the screw hole opened for the passage of the screw; and is attached on the door handle outer reinforcing piece (2) (Fig. 4).

The centering pins (8) on the door handle inner reinforcing piece (3) are inserted into the centering pin recesses (10) on the door handle outer reinforcing piece (2) and are thus attached on the door handle inner reinforcing piece (3) and both, i. e. inner (3) and outer (2) reinforcing pieces are mounted on the door by screwing through the corresponding screw holes (9 and 14) that are present on the said pieces.

Just below the door handle (1), there is a wing (6) placed on the door handle outer reinforcing piece (2), to be engaged to the guide plate (5). The said wing (6) is a plastic monobloc piece manufactured with the door handle (1), which has a projection on both sides and which is connected to the doorhandle (1) by means of a cross-piece at the middle. Furthermore, a door handle pin (13) is provided on the door handle (1) end, formed so as to enter the channels (11) and hole (12) at the door handle connecting part (4) in order to provide connection with the said door handle connecting part (4). The wing (6) is engaged into the guide plate (5) by sliding and the pin (13) at the end of the doorhandle (1) is fitted on the cylinder, which has been placed on the two stepped platform and which has a hole (12) in the middle and right-angled channels (11) of certain depths around the hole, by pressing and finally the door handle (1) is screwed through the screw hole (15) opened on the lateral side of the door outer plastics, surface, in order to complete the connection and therefore the mounting operation of the door handle (1) to the door.

As the door handle (1) is manufactured separately from the door, in case a problem arises at the door handle, the doorhandle (1) can be dismounted easily by

unscrewing the said screw on the lateral side, by pulling the pin (13) at the end of the door handle (1), that has been fitted on the door handle connecting part (4) and by sliding the wing (6) on the guide plate (5) backwards in order to take it out; thus loss of time and costly service procedure is avoided. Furthermore, the door handle (1) can be manufactured in various forms and patterns, which in turn provides facility of usage and visual attractiveness for the choice of the user.
