Abstract:

The present invention relates to a refrigerator and, more particularly, to a refrigerator comprising a door which varies in transparency so that the inside thereof can be seen. According to one embodiment of the present invention, provided is a refrigerator comprising: a cabinet having a storage room thereinside; a lighting device for illuminating the inside of the storage room; a door, provided rotatably in the cabinet, for opening and closing the storage chamber, said door having an open part; a panel assembly, provided in the door, comprising a front panel positioned at the front side of the door; a sensor for sensing a sound wave which is generated by a knock input applied to the door and then transmitted through the front panel; and a control unit which operates the lighting device when a predetermined knock input is sensed so that light is transmitted through the panel assembly, whereby the storage room can be seen from the outside of the door through the open part.
