Provided is a refrigerator having: a box having an opening; a rectangular door for closing the opening of the box in an openable and closable manner; and a gasket mounted so as to extend along the outer edge section of the door, which is the outer edge of the inside of the door. The gasket extends along the outer edge section of the door and has: a first base located on the door side; a second base extending along the outer edge section of the door and located on the box side; an engagement section formed on the first base so as to extend toward the door and adapted to be engaged with the door; and a hollow bag-like section formed on the second base so as to extend toward the box. The bag-like section has: a pair of roots formed on the box-side surface of the second base; a contact section coming into contact with the box when the door closes the opening of the box; and a pointed section formed at the front end of the bag-like section. The pair of roots extends toward the box in the direction perpendicular to the second base. The inner peripheral surface of the bag-like section has formed therein a groove having a smaller wall thickness than the remaining portion of the bag-like section. The pointed section has a shape bending at an acute angle.
