Abstract:
A regenerative brake (1) low in weight even when a braking force is large, comprising a brake disk (10) and a pair of stators (20) for regenerative braking, wherein, when the regenerative brake (1) is used, in braking, a part of the kinetic energy of a railcar is regenerated to a tertiary circuit on a power source side by power generation, and the amount of the energy converted to a heat energy is reduced and, accordingly, the quantity of heat generated in the brake disk (10) is reduced, whereby, when the regenerative brake (1) is used, the brake disk (10) can be formed thinner in wall thickness than a conventional regenerative brake, a cooling device such as a fan is not required and, accordingly, a braking force can be increased and the size and weight of the brake can be reduced.
