Abstract:
Provided is a reinforcing-fiber sheet material in which chain stitch portions that hold reinforcing fiber bundles can be prevented from deforming or shrinking and the reinforcing fiber bundles are prevented from extending in a zigzag direction. Even when a plurality of sheets of the material are superposed to mold an FRP, the material has excellent formability and gives an FRP having a high Vf. The sheet material has excellent mechanical properties.
Auxiliary insertion yarns (3) woven into each of chain stitch portions (W,W∙∙∙) have been deflected outward at intervals of a certain number of courses, and woven into and entangled with the chain stitch portion (W) extending side by side therewith, with one or more reinforcing fiber bundles (1) therebetween. These chain stitch portions (W, W) have been bound to each other in a drawn state to hold both sides of the reinforcing fiber bundle (1) therebetween. Yarns (4) of a low-melting-point polymer have been inserted along the lengthwise direction of the sheet material and fusion-bonded at intersections of the auxiliary insertion yarns (3) to integrate the reinforcing fiber bundles (1) with the auxiliary-yarn warp-knitted fabric.
