This reinforcing material contains glass flakes with coating films and glass strands with coating films. Each one of the glass strands with coating films is composed of a plurality of glass filaments and a coating film that is formed on the surfaces of the glass filaments. The thicknesses of the glass flakes are 0.1-4.0 μm; and the average particle diameter of the glass flakes is 10-800 μm. If the total content of aminosilane and a resin having a glycidyl group in the coating films of the glass flakes is taken as 100% by mass, the content of the resin having a glycidyl group is 30-95% by mass. The ignition loss of the glass flakes with coating films is 0.1-2.0% by mass. If the total content of a urethane resin, aminosilane and a resin having a glycidyl group in the coating films of the glass filaments is taken as 100% by mass, the content of the resin having a glycidyl group is 10-90% by mass, the content of the aminosilane is 0.1-40% by mass, and the content of the urethane resin is 1-50% by mass. The ignition loss of the glass strands with coating films is 0.1-2.0% by mass.
