Abstract:
This reinforcing steel member for a motor vehicle has a steel plate, a first resin material disposed on at least part of the surface of the steel plate, and a second resin material that is disposed on at least part of the surface of the first resin material and that has a matrix resin and a reinforced fiber material contained in the matrix resin. In a cross section of the first resin material and the second resin material, the cross section being perpendicular to the surface of the steel plate, between one end part of the second resin material and another end part of the second resin material is a location where the length along the border between the second resin material and the first resin material is 80 mm or greater. Formed in the first resin material is a protruding part where, in the cross section, a length X from the two end parts of the second resin material to the end part of the first resin material is 3.0 mm or greater. The Young's modulus of the first resin material at room temperature is not more than 1/10 of the Young's modulus of the second resin material at room temperature.
