Title:
REINFORCING STRUCTURE FOR CONSTRUCTION MEMBERS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1992/014007
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A reinforcing structure for preventing proof stress degradation resulting from buckling of components on the compression side of a cross-sectionally H-shaped member or a truss structure member used in architecture and civil engineering construction. A reinforcing member extending in the direction of the axis of a construction member is provided on or near the neutral axis of the construction member hardly influencing an initial state of stress in said member. When local buckling is caused in a flange on the compression side of an H-shaped steel used as a pillar or beam or in a chord member of a truss structure on the compression side, the reinforcing member bears load in the direction of axis of the construction member and thus prevents abrupt degradation in proof stress. With the use of an equally split steel pipe as a member for forming a cross-sectionally closed reinforcing part near the neutral axis thereof, prevention of sideward buckling is enabled in addition to reinforcing effect against local buckling and said closed reinforcing part can be used for wiring or duct for air conditioning.
