Abstract:
The present invention relates to a relay apparatus and a relay method for a passive optical network, which enable greatly extending coverage while maintaining compatibility with existing network components. Taking into account an increase in delay time when an optical repeater is applied to a passive optical network, the present invention reduces the delay time caused by applying the optical repeater, so that a total transmission delay time falls within a preamble range of an upstream burst frame. As such, the present invention has an effect of significantly increasing the coverage of a passive optical network by using an optical repeater.
