Provided is a high-quality release film that is necessary for a touch panel member or flat panel substrate of an electrostatic capacitance type, particularly, for a highly transparent substrate-less double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet in which foreign matter is unacceptable, still particularly, for such a substrate-less double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet which is to be used under high-temperature conditions accompanied with sputtering, that can prevent the contamination of a processing step where severe cleanliness is required, and that exhibits excellent inspectability of contamination. A release film which has a first coating layer formed on at least one surface of a substrate polyester film by applying a coating fluid that contains a polymer containing a quaternary ammonium salt group, an acrylate polymer containing polyethylene glycol and a crosslinking agent, a second coating layer that is formed on at least one first coating layer by applying a coating material containing at least one organosiloxane compound and that has a thickness of 10 to 100nm, and a release layer present on at least one second coating layer, and in which the amount of oligomers deposited on the surface of the film is 0.5mg/m2 or less as determined by subjecting the surface of the release layer to heat treatment at 150ºC for 60 minutes.
