Title:
RELUCTANCE MOTOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1991/002402
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A reluctance motor used as a drive source for industrial equipment and, particularly, as a servo electric motor. During a period in which a position detect signal exists, the armature current is maintained at a set value by the chopper control, and while only at the end of the period the stored magnetic energy of the armature coil is shifted to the next armature to be energized. As a result, the stored magnetic energy of an armature discharge current decreases sharply, and accordingly the current to the next armature coil increases sharply. Therefore, the electric motor rotates at a high speed maintaining a large torque. The electric power is supplied from a dc power source (2a, 2b) via a forwardly connected diode (41). A capacitor (47) may be connected in parallel with the power source.
