The present invention relates to a remote control module for a refrigerated container and a method for controlling a remote control module. In order to solve the problems examined above, the remote control module according to the present invention may comprise: a battery unit that supplies driving power to the remote control module; a location information collection unit that collects location information of the refrigerated container; a sensing unit that senses state information related to the internal environment and driving state of the refrigerated container; and a control unit that controls the communication unit to operate in one operation mode among an activation mode and a deactivation mode that differ with respect to the consumption amount of the power supplied from the battery unit.
