Abstract:
A remote controller (106) for controlling an apparatus to be controlled is provided with: an infrared transmission unit (108) that transmits information using infrared; a wireless communication unit (107) that transmits information by means of wireless communication using radiowaves; a reception unit (205) that receives, from a user, control information to be transmitted to the apparatus to be controlled; a wireless communication determining unit (202) that determines whether wireless communication can be performed between the wireless communication unit (107) and the apparatus to be controlled; and a control unit (201), which selects, on the basis of determination results obtained from the wireless communication determining unit (202), one unit that is to transmit the control information to the apparatus to be controlled, said unit being the infrared transmission unit (108) or the wireless communication unit (107), and which transmits the control information to the apparatus to be controlled using the one unit thus selected.
