The present application relates to the technical field of computers, in particular to a remote desktop operation method and apparatus, a computer readable storage medium, and a terminal device. The method comprises: receiving a remote desktop operation request initiated by a user, and extracting a preset template image and operation instructions from the remote desktop operation request; acquiring a window image of a remote desktop, and searching for a target sub-image matching the template image in the window image of the remote desktop; acquiring first coordinates of the target sub-image in the window image and acquiring second coordinates of the window image of the remote desktop in a local desktop; calculating third coordinates of the target sub-image in the local desktop according to the first coordinates and the second coordinates; and executing the operation instructions at the third coordinates in the local desktop. That is, an operation object is searched for by means of image matching, and the specific position of the operation object is determined by means of coordinate transformation, thereby greatly improving the operation success rate.
