A remote operation actuator capable of changing by remote operation the attitude of a tool provided to the front end of an elongated spindle guide section, capable of changing the attitude of the tool even if the spindle guide section is in a curved state, and capable of changing the attitude with high accuracy. A remote operation actuator is provided with: a spindle guide section (3); a front-end member (2) which is mounted to the front end of the spindle guide section (3) in such a manner that the attitude of the front-end member (2) is changeable; a tool (1) which is rotatably provided to the front-end member (2); a drive source (41) for tool rotation, adapted to rotate the tool (1); and a drive source (42) for attitude changer, adapted to operate the attitude of the front-end member (2). The spindle guide section (3) is provided therein with a rotating shaft (22) for transmitting to the tool the rotational motion from the tool drive source (41) for tool rotation, and with an attitude operation member (31) for changing the attitude of the front-end member (2) by being advanced and retracted by the drive source (42) for attitude change. The remote operation actuator is also provided with a position detection means (47) for detecting, at a different portion from the drive source (42) for attitude change, the advanced and retracted positions of the attitude operation member (31).
