This remote recovery system for elevator failures includes: an elevator control device (200) that drives and controls an elevator (20); and a remote recovery device (300) that communicates with the elevator control device (200) and causes the elevator control device (200) to perform a failure recovery operation for the elevator (20). When failure of the elevator (20) is detected, a failure signal including a failure code for the elevator (20) is transmitted, and upon receiving said failure signal transmitted from the elevator control device (200), the remote recovery device (300) transmits a recovery command and a recovery diagnostic command that correspond to the failure code included in the failure signal to the elevator control device (200) such that the elevator control device (200) executes a recovery operation and a recovery diagnostic operation for the elevator (20). The elevator control device (200) executes a preparatory operation for enabling starting of the execution of the recovery operation if, upon receiving the recovery command, the elevator (20) is in a state in which execution of the recovery operation cannot be started.
