Abstract:
An elevator device according to the present invention is provided with: a car that is disposed so as to be raisable and lowerable in a hoistway; a hydraulic cylinder that is disposed in a lower part of the hoistway and that extends in the vertical direction; a plunger that is housed in the hydraulic cylinder so as to be vertically movable in association with the raising or lowering motion of the car; a pair of engagement chains that are connected to the car, that, when driven in a biased manner from the horizontal direction to the vertical direction, engage each other and integrally rise in an independent manner so as to cause the car to travel upward, and that, when driven in a biased manner from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction, disengage from each other and diverge so as to cause the car to travel downward; a driving device that drives the engagement chains in a biased manner; a first brake device that brakes the vertical movement of the plunger; and a second brake device that brakes the independent raising and lowering of the engagement chains.
