A method for operating a repeater according to an embodiment of the present invention, comprises a step of detecting a synchronization signal from a received communication signal; a step of identifying a time division duplex (TDD) switching pattern on the basis of a power change over time of the communication signal; and a step of switching an uplink operation and a downlink operation of a repeater on the basis of the detected synchronization signal and the switching pattern.
