Abstract:
A replaceable rolling mill of the equipment for rolling a steel strip, which is capable of shifting the rolls from a horizontal position to a vertical position and vice versa. This mill has a pair of first shafts detachably connected by universal joints to a pair of spindles to which a rotational rolling force is transmitted, one second shaft provided substantially in parallel with these first shafts, and a pair of rolls provided so that the axes of the rolls extend at right angles to the second shaft. The rolling mill as a whole is made replaceable and the direction of rolling is changeable from the horizontal one to the vertical one or vice versa. The first and second shafts are connected together by a series gear train, and the second shaft is provided thereon with a pair of bevel gears which face in the opposite directions, and which are meshed with bevel gears mounted on the shafts of the two rolls.
