Abstract:
Disclosed is a device or a method, which is capable of displaying appropriate images for every scene as thumbnails extracts scene borders (SB) from video information. In the device or method, representative pictures (P55, P72,…) representing scenes (Scene #15, Scene #16,…) partitioned by the scene borders (SB) are selected, the thumbnail image data of each scene on the basis of the representative pictures of each scene is generated, thumbnails (TN15, TN16,…) of each scene on the basis of the thumbnail image data of each scene are displayed on a display device, and the scene corresponding to a thumbnail arbitrarily selected from the displayed thumbnails is reproduced. When the representative pictures of each scene is selected, the representative pictures (P55, P72,…) are selected from pictures later than pictures (P52, P67,…) of the scene borders (SB) in terms of time.
