Abstract:
A resin emulsion for coating materials, which contains emulsion particles each having an inner layer and an outer layer, and wherein: each emulsion particle has a resin layer containing a polymer (I) that is obtained by emulsion polymerizing a monomer component A containing 80-100% by mass of a styrene monomer and 0-20% by mass of a monomer other than the styrene monomer and a resin layer containing a polymer (II) that is obtained by emulsion polymerizing a monomer component B containing 70-100% by mass of a (meth)acrylic acid ester and 0-30% by mass of a monomer other than the (meth)acrylic acid ester; and the content of the styrene monomer in all monomer components used as starting materials for the emulsion particles is 10-55% by mass.
