Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a resin optical waveguide which is capable of reducing the transfer loss between a silicon optical waveguide and an optical fiber. The present invention relates to a resin optical waveguide having a core and a cladding that has a lower refractive index than the core. This resin optical waveguide is configured, along the direction of propagation of light, from a bonding part where at least a part of the core is exposed and an optical waveguide part where the entire circumference of the core is covered by the cladding; and the width of the core in the optical waveguide part-side end of the bonding part is larger than the width of the core in the other end of the bonding part, said other end being on the opposite side of the optical waveguide part-side end.
