Abstract:

[Problem] To provide a resin solid acid for which intermediate-stage production costs can be reduced by the omission of a synthetic resin carbonization step and the direct addition of a sulfo group to a synthetic resin, and to provide a production method for the resin solid acid. [Solution] A resin solid acid that is a sulfo-group-modified resin obtained by introducing a sulfo group to an un-carbonized raw material resin. The yield of the sulfo-group-modified resin is 80% or more based on the weight of the un-carbonized raw material resin, the sulfo group content of the sulfo-group-modified resin is 1 mmol/g or more, and the raw material resin is a powdered material, a granular material, or a fibrous material. Also, a production method for obtaining the sulfo-group-modified resin, the method having a step for adding to the un-carbonized raw material resin a sulfonating agent that is sulfuric acid, fuming sulfuric acid, or chlorosulfonic acid, and a step for heating the raw material resin to which the sulfonating agent has been added to a temperature that is not more than 200˚C.
