Abstract:
A resonator, a filter and a communication unit in which the overall size can be reduced easily even when the resonance frequency is relatively low. Conductive layers (4, 5) are laid in layers while being insulated from each other by a dielectric layer (3), and conductor opening parts where any conductor layer is not formed in the laying direction are allowed to serve as dielectric regions IAa and IAb whereas the parts of the conductive layers (4, 5) facing each other through the dielectric layer (3) are allowed to serve as capacitive regions CA, thus obtaining a slot resonator of step impedance structure. Impedance step ratio between the inductive region and the capacitive region is increased by this structure thus reducing the size of the resonator. Furthermore, conductor loss of the resonator is reduced by suppressing intrusion of magnetic energy into the capacitive regions, thus obtaining a small resonator having a high Qo.
