Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing at least one type of oxidation product selected from the group consisting of acrolein and acrylic acid, said product offering a reduced risk of gas-phase oxidation catalyst degradation or runaway reactions when restarting following shutdown, and allowing a reaction to stably advance. In the provided method for producing at least one type of oxidation product selected from the group consisting of acrolein and acrylic acid using a fixed-bed reactor filled with a gas-phase oxidation catalyst, a thermal medium is brought into contact with or made to flow through the fixed-bed reactor to heat the fixed-bed reactor while at least one type of feedstock gas selected from the group consisting of propylene and acrolein is subjected to a gas-phase contact oxidation reaction, said method being characterized in that the temperature of the thermal medium at maximum load when restarting following shutdown is lower than the temperature of the thermal medium at maximum load during initial start-up.
