Abstract:
Provided is a thin retardation layer-equipped polarizing plate in which detachment of a retardation layer and adjacent layers is suppressed and which, when being apply to an image display device, suppresses corrosion of metallic members. The retardation layer-equipped polarizing plate according to one embodiment of the present invention has, sequentially from a visually recognized side, a polarizing plate including a polarizer, a retardation layer, and an adhesive layer. Provided between the polarizer and the adhesive layer is at least one layer of an iodine permeation inhibition layer which is a thermosetting product or a solidified product of a coating film of an organic solvent solution containing a resin. The iodine permeation inhibition layer located adjacent to the retardation layer contains the resin and an isocyanate compound. The resin has a glass transition temperature equal to or higher than 85°C and a weight average molecular weight Mw of 25000 or more. The isocyanate compound is at least one selected from tolylene diisocyanate, diphenyl methane diisocyanate, xylylene diisocyanate, and derivatives thereof. The content ratio (resin/isocyanate compound) of the resin and the isocyanate compound is 95/5-10/90.
