Abstract:
Provided is a retardation plate having an optical compensation function, used in elliptically polarizing plates having an optical compensation function whereby, e.g., flaws such as wrinkles do not occur, even when used in a flexible display and folded while an image is being displayed. This retardation plate having an optical compensation function is a laminate including a horizontally-aligned liquid crystal cured film and a vertically-aligned liquid crystal cured film and satisfies relationships (1)-(4). (1) The interlayer distance between the horizontally-aligned liquid crystal cured film and the vertically-aligned liquid crystal cured film is no more than 5 µm; (2) A horizontally-aligned film or a vertically-aligned film is included between layers of the horizontally-aligned liquid crystal cured film and the vertically-aligned liquid crystal cured film; (3) ReA (450) / ReA (550) < 1.00; (4) RthC (450) / RthC (550) < 1.00.
