Abstract:
In this retarding potential type energy analyzer, a preceding stage grid electrode (21), a reference grid electrode (22), and a subsequent stage grid electrode (23) are sequentially aligned, an electric potential difference of a predetermined magnitude is applied between the reference grid electrode (22) and the preceding stage grid electrode (21) to form an ascending electric potential gradient, and an electric potential difference is applied between the reference grid electrode (22) and the subsequent stage grid electrode (23) while forming a descending electric potential gradient. The grid electrodes are disposed in such a manner that the distance between the reference grid electrode (22) and the subsequent stage grid electrode (23) is shorter than the distance between the reference grid electrode (22) and the preceding stage grid electrode (21). Alternatively, the electric potential difference between the reference grid electrode (22) and the subsequent stage grid electrode (23) is set to be greater than the electric potential difference between the reference grid electrode (22) and the preceding stage grid electrode (21).
