Title:
RETRACTABLE PROTECTIVE RESPIRATORY MASK
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/127296
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a retractable protective respiratory mask device including disposable filters, which protects the respiratory system, covering the nose and mouth during inhalation while breathing in an atmosphere polluted by different agents, such as infectious agents, virulent agents, pathogenic agents or toxic substances present in the environment. The invention is also intended to protect non-infected persons from persons infected with a virus, by allowing saliva and sputum expelled when coughing and/or breathing out and/or talking to be deposited inside the retractable protective respiratory mask. The retractable protective respiratory device is characterised in that it contains a disposable, absorbent and disinfectant air filter bag or cloth which can collect fluids and which includes two retractable doors in the form of half-pears that pivot about the lateral axes thereof, such as to leave the device open or closed. In addition, the volumetric capacity of the device can be increased by means of the front sliding filter cover of the device, manually actuated by squeezing the seal of the device with the thumb on one side and with the remaining fingers on the other side, said seal activating the different systems or means for opening the doors and moving the sliding filter cover, by moving or pushing one or both tongues of the collection filter holder, using the different systems: mechanical (lever) and/or mechanical (rack and pinion) and/or electric (electromagnet) and/or pneumatic (piston) and/or hydraulic (piston). The doors close and the filter cover contracts automatically, by means of springs, when the pressure from the hand is removed from the seal. The invention also includes a pin that secures the doors so that they can be left open and used like any other common air filter mask. Similarly, when the doors are closed and the filter cover contracts, the pin ensures that the doors do not open and that the filter cover does not expand. The curved shape of the half-pear design allows the doors or mouth of the device to open and form a full pear shape, thereby establishing a seal on both sides of the mouth and nose, as well as in the upper portion thereof with the device being applied ergonomically to any type of nose by means of the elastic bands of the filter bag or cloth, and below the lips. The invention relates to a retractable mask device including a collection container filter, which allows a wearer infected with a virus, including influenza-type viruses, to breathe in a polluted atmosphere, to talk, to cough, to sneeze and/or to deposit saliva and sputum, thereby protecting non-infected persons. The retractable mask device including a collection filter can also be used as any other type of filter mask and/or disposable environmental air filter mask, for use in industry in general and also to provide protection in rarefied natural atmospheres, such as ash rain in areas close to volcanoes. Furthermore, the device can also be used as a container or packaging for drugs for human use that are intended to be administered by means of the bronchial airways, or as medical or rescue masks.
