Abstract:
A retractable seat cover (100) for providing temporary protection to a seat (31), such as an automotive seat or piece of furniture, includes a housing (15), a roll of fabric (3), a retraction mechanism (40), and a strap (70). The housing (15) may have a slit (28) for enabling the fabric (3) to be extended from or retracted into the housing (15) through the slit (28), or may have a support arm (114) and end brackets (116 and 118) for supporting the fabric therebetween. The fabric (3), which may be waterproof, moisture repellent, have anti-bacterial properties, have anti-slip properties, or combinations thereof in two layers (76 and 77) for providing additional protection to the seat (31), is used to cover the upholstery of the seat (31). The retraction mechanism (40) includes a spring roller mechanism for controlling rotation of the roll of fabric. The strap (70) is coupled to a top portion of the fabric and is used to secure the seat cover to the seat.
