Abstract:
The present invention aims to provide a method and a chemical agent whereby a reverse osmosis membrane can be stabilized and operated over the long term, even for treatment water that contains organic matter. In this reverse osmosis membrane separation method: treatment water that includes organic matter is passed through a treatment system having a reverse osmosis membrane; and the treatment water undergoes membrane separation treatment using the reverse osmosis membrane. Polyvinyl alcohol and a phosphorus compound are used in the treatment water prior to the membrane separation treatment.
